Contractor Website Design for Remodelers and Home Builders

Contractor web design on WordPress: websites for remodelers, home builders and construction companies, built to turn homeowners anywhere in the US into quote requests.

What trade are you in? A kitchen and bath remodeler needs a different website from a home builder, a general contractor or a roofer, and we build each one differently. Zainfy is a contractor website design company that works only with home remodeling and construction contractors: kitchen and bath remodelers, home builders, general contractors and construction companies, plus the roofing, design-build, deck and pool trades listed below. We work anywhere in the US, with state programs in Georgia, Florida and Michigan. Every build is custom WordPress web design for contractors: fast on a phone, organized around your project portfolio and marked up so Google and AI tools can read it. Website design for remodelers, home builder website design or general contractor website design, the brief is the same: the homeowner sees your site before they call, so the site has to earn the call.

The problem

Why most remodeling contractor websites lose the lead

A slow site loses the lead

A homeowner pricing a kitchen remodel opens three contractor sites from one search. If yours takes more than three seconds to load, more than half of mobile visitors leave before a single project photo appears. Speed is the first test they run on you.

A five-second look decides it

A homeowner about to sign for a five- or six-figure addition judges a contractor site in seconds. A dated layout or a buried gallery reads as dated work, and they close the tab without telling you.

AI is naming your competitors

ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews now answer “best bathroom remodeler in [my city]” with names. A site with no clear project pages gives them nothing to cite.

No city pages, no local searches

A homeowner searching “bathroom remodeling contractor [city]” will not find a site that has no page for that city. City and service-area pages are how contractors get found in the suburbs and the next county over, not only in the metro on the letterhead.

Buyer behavior

Website design for remodelers: what homeowners check before they call

Six checks happen before the phone rings. Website design for home improvement companies and website design for renovation companies have to pass all six, and so does every home improvement website we build.

They compare portfolios first

A homeowner short-lists contractors by their project photos, before price and before reviews. If your before-and-after work is not front and center, another contractor’s gallery wins the inquiry, even when your work is better.

They search their city, not the country

Nobody searches for a remodeler in the United States. They type “kitchen remodeler [city]” or “custom home builder [county]”, and sites with a real page for each market show up.

Boomers pay for most remodels, and they verify

Baby Boomers were 59% of renovating homeowners in 2024 (Houzz & Home Study). That buyer wants real project photos, a license number, a clear service list and a site that looks established.

Big budgets research quietly

Top-tier renovators spent $140,000 or more in 2024 (Houzz & Home Study). A buyer at that level reads your project pages for weeks before filling in one form.

A page that stutters loses silently

Homeowners do not know what Core Web Vitals are, but they feel them. A gallery that lags or a quote button that jumps while the page loads gets closed, and Google ranks it lower.

They ask AI before Google

45% of consumers now use AI tools for local business recommendations, up from 6% in 2024 (BrightLocal, 2026). The remodelers those tools name are drawn from website content.

The build

Contractor website design: what’s included in every build

Contractor website design is the planning, writing and building of a website that turns a homeowner’s visit into an estimate request for a remodeling or construction company. Our contractor website design services start with a custom WordPress website, designed around your services, service areas and project portfolio. A site ranks faster with search work behind it, and the same team runs that as a contractor SEO company on a separate monthly plan.

Custom WordPress Website

A custom WordPress build, with no rented contractor website templates and no platform lock-in, designed around your services, service areas and portfolio. You own every file.

Before/After Project Portfolio

A gallery with before-and-after sliders, organized by project type and city: kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, additions, new builds. The format that builds trust before the phone call.

Core Web Vitals Optimization

INP, LCP and CLS, the speed measures Google uses, handled from the first build and checked in Google PageSpeed Insights before launch. Faster sites rank higher and hold attention longer.

Mobile-Responsive Design

Most homeowners find a contractor on a phone. Responsive web design for home improvement companies starts there: mobile-first, small screen before desktop.

On-Page SEO Integration

Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, schema markup (HomeAndConstructionBusiness and LocalBusiness) and internal links set correctly from day one, on every page. Built to support local SEO and your Google Business Profile.

Lead Capture & Quote Request Forms

Quote and estimate request forms and landing pages for each offer, with click-to-call on every page, that ask for project type, timeline and location, connected to your email and, if you use one, your CRM, such as HubSpot, JobTread or Buildertrend. Included in the Growth and Success packages.

Speed-to-Lead Setup

The contractor who replies first usually wins the job. Forms alert you the moment an inquiry arrives, and call tracking with Google Analytics shows which pages bring the calls. Included in the Growth and Success packages.

AI Search Readiness

Answer-first content and clean markup so ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews can read, quote and name your business.

Who we build for

Home remodeling and construction website design, by trade

We build websites for one market: home remodeling and construction. Home remodeling website design is not one layout, and remodeler website design differs from website design for general contractors: each trade’s buyer needs something different.

Kitchen and bath remodeler websites

A gallery for each room type, before-and-after pairs and a price-range guide. Remodeling website design and web design for remodeling services are won on photos: a homeowner wants to see a bathroom like theirs, finished, before asking for a quote.

Home builder websites

Communities, floor plans, lots and model-home virtual tours. If your home builder website is not generating leads, the gap is usually one of these. Home builder website design answers where, what and how much, and turns visits into home builder leads.

General contractor websites

A page for each project type: additions, whole-house renovations, new builds. General contractor website design, like any remodeling contractor website design, puts your license number, bonding and insurance where a homeowner signing a large contract looks for them. That is the core of web design for general contractors.

Construction company websites

Construction website design and web design for renovation services built on a service page for each trade you self-perform, a project archive by job type, and a clear estimate path for homeowners and commercial clients.

Roofing, siding and window contractor websites

Roofing company website design needs storm-damage and replacement pages, financing and warranty details, a material and color gallery, and a call button that never leaves the screen. Most visitors arrive on a phone, in a hurry, and roofing web design that hides the phone number loses the storm-week calls.

Luxury and design-build websites

Fewer pages, larger photography and full project stories, from first drawing to finished room. At six-figure budgets the portfolio is the pitch.

Basement, deck and pool builder websites

Galleries by pool type, deck material and basement finish, a seasonal build calendar, and an estimate form that asks the size of the space. These buyers plan months ahead.

Who we don’t take

HVAC, plumbing, electrical and handyman companies. Their buyers want a fast repair, not a portfolio, and a remodeler’s website would serve them badly.

Where we work

Where we build contractor websites, and three ways to start

Three state programs, one national build, and three ways to start: a website on its own, a website with ongoing search work, or a redesign that keeps what already ranks.

Georgia

Home state · Douglasville, GA

Georgia requires a state contractor license for residential jobs above $2,500, and homeowners check for it. Georgia builds put the license number, insurance and local project pages where buyers look first. Start with contractor website design across Georgia.

Florida

State program · storm season

Florida requires the contractor’s license number in all advertising (FS 489.119), so it goes in the site header and footer, not only on the about page. Storm-season roofing pages and Spanish-language content are planned in from the start. See contractor website design across Florida.

Michigan

State program · short build season

Michigan rules call for the builder’s name, license number and business address in all advertising (Mich. Admin. Code R 338.1532), so they sit in the footer and contact page. A short winter build season means homeowners compare sites months ahead. See contractor website design across Michigan.

Anywhere else in the US

Remote build · same three packages

The same custom WordPress build, the same packages and the same 3 to 6 week launch, run remotely. City and service-area pages are planned around the markets you name, and your state’s license and advertising rules are checked before the site goes live.

Website only

One-time build · you own it

A one-time build from $1,499, with on-page SEO set correctly at launch. You get the site, every file and every login, and nothing to pay us each month. The right start if referrals fill your calendar and you need a credible place to send them.

Website plus ongoing SEO

Build first · then a monthly program

We build the site first, then run the monthly SEO program on top of it: city pages, Google Business Profile, citations and reviews. It is a separate service with its own agreement, from $999 a month on a 6-month term, so the website fee never hides a retainer.

Redesign of an existing site

Keep what already ranks

We map every current URL and its search traffic, keep the content that earns clicks, and set 301 redirects for anything that moves, then check Search Console after launch. Our website redesign services for remodelers are planned page by page, so old rankings move with you.

Process

Our contractor website design process, week by week

As a contractor website design agency we launch most builds 3 to 6 weeks after you sign, depending on the package and how fast your project photos and license details arrive.

Days 1–5

Discovery and planning

Your services, service areas and project types mapped before a single page is designed.

Weeks 2–3

Design and build

A custom WordPress site built around your work, structured to turn visitors into inquiries.

Week 4

SEO and speed foundation

Clean markup, fast load and search structure on every page, then review and revisions with you.

After launch

Launch and refine

We ship it, watch how real visitors behave, and fix what costs you leads.

Compare

Custom contractor website vs Wix, Squarespace and “free” lead-site websites

The cheapest website for contractors is the one you only pay for once and keep. Remodeling contractor web design should never be rented back to you.

A “free” website costs the most: you pay per lead, and the site stays with them when you stop. A site you own sends inquiries to you, and social media marketing for contractors gives homeowners a reason to visit it.

Pricing

Contractor website design pricing: three one-time fees

Website design for contractors and website design for remodeling businesses in three packages: one-time fees, no monthly rent for your own website.

Foundation

$1,499 one-time

Single-location contractor getting online for the first time or replacing an outdated site.

Growth

$2,199 one-time

Established contractor targeting a metro or several cities in one region.

Success

$2,999 one-time

Multi-location contractor, or a firm competing in a high-competition metro.

One-time fee. You own the website. Ongoing SEO is a separate monthly service.

FAQ

Contractor website design: questions contractors ask before they hire

A Zainfy contractor website costs $1,499, $2,199 or $2,999 as a one-time fee, and you own it. Foundation covers up to 5 pages and 2 cities, Growth up to 8 pages, 4 cities, a quote form and basic SEO, and Success up to 12 pages, 8 cities, advanced SEO and 6 months of hosting and maintenance. For comparison, one national remodeler-website agency quotes $5,000 to $15,000 for a build, and template sellers advertise contractor sites from $999. Compare any home improvement web design company on pages, copy and file ownership, in writing.

Yes. You own every file of a Zainfy build: the WordPress site, the design, the copy and your project photos, with the hosting and domain in your name. If you leave, the site leaves with you and runs on any host. Ask every web designer this before you ask the price, because a lead company’s “free” site usually stays with the lead company, often along with the phone number on it.

Three to six weeks from signing to launch. Discovery and planning take the first 3 to 5 days, design and build run through weeks two and three, and SEO setup, speed work and your revisions fill week four. The usual delay is project photos and license details, so gather those first. You approve the site in stages, so there is no long silence followed by a site you have never seen. A finished contractor website promised in 48 hours is a template with your logo on it.

Start with the website alone if referrals fill most of your calendar and you mainly need a credible place to send people. Add ongoing SEO when you want new homeowners to find you on Google in the cities you serve, because a launch-day setup does not build city pages, reviews and citations month after month. The website is a one-time build from $1,499; SEO is a separate monthly service from $999 on a 6-month term. Many build first, watch the calls, then add search work; the site takes SEO without a rebuild.

A home page, one page for each service or project type, a page for each city or county you want work in, a portfolio sorted by project type, an about page with your license number and proof of insurance, reviews, and a contact page with an estimate request form. Home builders add community, floor plan and model-home pages; roofers add storm-damage and financing pages. The best contractor websites put a local project on every city page, or Google treats the page as a copy. Five well-built pages beat twenty thin ones.

Yes, if the redesign is planned around the URLs that already rank. Before we change anything, we map every existing page and its search traffic, keep the content that earns clicks, and set a 301 redirect for every URL that moves, so Google carries the old authority to the new page. After launch we check Search Console to confirm the move held. Most ranking losses come from a new site that quietly deletes old project and city pages, so ask any designer for the redirect plan in writing.

Because you own a WordPress site and can move it to any host, while a Wix or Squarespace site only runs on their platform. It also gives control over city pages, galleries, schema and speed, which decide local rankings for a remodeler working several towns. Any WordPress developer can maintain it after us. A builder is fine for a one-page site you never plan to grow.

We write the copy; the photos come from your projects. Foundation includes copywriting for 3 pages, Growth for 6 and Success for every page, written from an intake call about your trades, your service area and your best jobs. Photos should be your own finished work, because homeowners distrust stock images of someone else’s kitchen. Send what you have from the jobsite or your phone, and we edit, crop, compress and sort it by project type.

Remodeling contractor website hosting depends on the package. Foundation does not include hosting, so the site goes live on a host you choose; Growth includes 3 months of hosting and domain; Success includes 6 months of hosting plus 6 months of maintenance. After that you can stay with us or move the site to any host, because the files are yours. Either way, a WordPress site needs regular updates, backups, a valid SSL certificate and a new project page now and then.

It is built so it can, but a launch alone does not rank a site. Growth includes basic SEO and AI search (GEO) setup, and Success includes advanced work: schema markup, answer-first service pages and project pages that Google and AI tools can read and quote. Ranking in the Map Pack and organic results for competitive remodeling searches takes ongoing work, which is our separate monthly SEO service. A designer who promises page-one rankings from a build alone is selling the launch, not the result.

Yes. Web design for remodelers is the core, and roofing, siding and window contractors, home builders, design-build firms and deck, basement and pool builders are all part of the market we work in, and each gets a site built for its buyer. A roofing site leads with storm and replacement pages and a call button; a home builder site leads with communities, floor plans and available lots. The six builds in the portfolio section above show how different those sites look. We do not build for HVAC, plumbing, electrical or handyman companies.
